LYNNWOOD, Wash. — A suspect involved in a police chase that ended in a crash on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County Tuesday afternoon is on the loose.
The pursuit ended in a crash and fire, briefly blocking three lanes of northbound I-5 in Lynnwood on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The suspect fled on foot around 3 p.m., according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect is 28-year-old Ivan Lopez-Ramos, who is wanted for second-degree assault, a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and attempt to elude, according to police. Lopez-Ramos is described as 5-foot-6 and 155 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a neck tattoo. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.
Two left lanes and the HOV lane were blocked following the crash, causing backups south of 44th Avenue West. Drivers were encouraged to use alternate routes and to expect delays.
Preliminary information indicates the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office was pursing a car when it crashed and caught fire.
The Washington State Patrol is assisting with the incident. There are no known injuries.
