I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass reopens following multiple spinouts, crashes

Multiple crashes and spinouts forced a temporary full closure Dec. 7.

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. — Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass has reopened following a temporary closure of the pass due to spinouts and crashes Thursday evening.

Eastbound I-90 first closed around 4 p.m. about five miles from Snoqualmie Pass due to vehicle spinouts. The eastbound closure was milepost 47 near Denny Creek, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation

The westbound lanes closed around 5 p.m. at milepost 71 near Easton, about 17 miles to Snoqualmie Pass. Those lanes reopened just before 7 p.m.

The eastbound lanes reopened just before 7:30 p.m.

As of 7:30 p.m., chains were required on all vehicles except all-wheel drive. Oversized vehicles were prohibited from traveling over the pass. There is snow and slush on the road.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for areas of the Cascades above 3,000 feet. The advisory includes Stevens and Snoqualmie passes.
