Fish culvert work to cause SR 530 delays between Arlington, Darrington

Drivers should expect a five- to 10-minute delay on SR 530 through August 20 while crews replace a culvert that runs under the highway.

It’s going to be a slower drive on State Route 530 in Snohomish County starting Saturday.

Drivers should expect delays and single-lane lane closures between Arlington and Darrington during daytime hours through August 20, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Construction crews are replacing a culvert that runs under the highway at Schoolyard Creek. This is part of a larger project to replace fish culverts under SR 530 that are too small for native fish to navigate as they make their way to spawning grounds.

Flaggers will help direct traffic during the lane closures.

Expect five- to 10-minute delays between Arlington and Darrington as drivers are rerouted onto a bypass at Schoolyard Creek near Lind Road.
