TUKWILA, Wash. — All lanes of Interstate 5 southbound have reopened near Interurban Avenue in Tukwila after a serious crash closed the roadway for an hour Sunday evening, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The driver had to be extracted from the car and is in serious condition, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant. Oliphant said the driver may have been impaired and driving erratically before the collision.
Traffic was backed up for two miles at one point due to the crash, according to WSDOT. Drivers are asked to expect delays if they're traveling through the area.
