A portion of Interstate 5 will be closed nightly through the weekend so Sound Transit can complete an important section of work for the Lynnwood Link light rail extension.
Southbound I-5 just to the north of the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center will be closed overnight Friday through Sunday starting at 11 p.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The closure will be in effect Friday 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, then 11 p.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and 11 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.
Highway 99 will serve as a detour for the closed portion of southbound I-5 between 244th St. SW and 220th St. SW.
The closure will allow Sound Transit to extend the Lynnwood Link light rail over the interstate as it works to connect Snohomish County to the light rail by 2024.
