MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — All westbound lanes of Interstate 90 at West Mercer Way near the Mercer Island tunnel have reopened following a fatal motorcycle accident, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to crashing into the back of a UPS truck around 7 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Washington state troopers are on scene and investigating.
The road was closed for nearly four hours while officials investigated.
