NB I-5 in Lakewood reopens after fatal crash

One person is dead and another has life-threatening injuries after a crash under an overpass at 47th Avenue in Lakewood.

TACOMA, Wash. — One person was killed in a crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Lakewood Tuesday evening.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. under an overpass near 47th Avenue.

According to Washington State Patrol, a semi-truck was involved in the crash. 

One other person has life-threatening injuries.

Three lanes and the on-ramp from Bridgeport Way are closed due to the crash. There is already a 5-mile backup in the area, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Drivers are urged to use alternative routes and expect delays.
