Washington State Patrol described the crash scene as "extensive" and said it took several hours to process.

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Northbound Interstate 5 reopened in Lynnwood after an hours-long closure following a fatal pedestrian crash early Monday morning.

Drivers along the road called 911 to report that a pedestrian was on I-5 just after midnight, but by the time fire medics arrived, that person had died, according to the Washington State Patrol.

WSP said the crash scene was "extensive" and took hours to process.

I-5 north reopened around 6 a.m. Traffic was being diverted onto 220th Street Southwest. The closure extended to the 44th Avenue exit.
