I-5 north reopens in Arlington after fatal crash involving pedestrian

The backup stemming from the crash stretched two miles down the highway.

ARLINGTON, Wash. — Northbound Interstate 5 has reopened in Arlington after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian blocked the roadway for several hours Friday morning.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding tweeted about the crash at 5:31 a.m.

The crash occurred at milepost 206. The on-ramp from northbound I-5 to State Route 531 was also closed.

The backup stemming from the crash stretched two miles down the freeway.

A detour was in place using SR 531 to State Route 9. Drivers would then get on State Route 530 and re-enter northbound I-5 north of the crash.
