SEATTLE — One person was arrested for vehicular homicide after a fatal crash that left a 78-year-old woman dead in south Seattle on the morning of Wednesday, May 29.
Seattle police officers responded to a 911 call for a single-vehicle crash in the 9200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South around 10:30 a.m.
When Seattle Fire crews arrived, they extricated all three passengers from the vehicle: the 32-year-old driver and 47-year-old and 78-year-old passengers.
The 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 47-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
The driver was taken to Harborview in stable condition. He was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and arrested.
Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad determined the driver lost control, traveled up onto a sidewalk, and struck a tree.
