SB I-5 in Everett was shut down Wednesday so troopers could collect evidence

Southbound I-5 was blocked from Marine View Drive to 41st Street, according to state patrol.

EVERETT, Wash. — Southbound Interstate 5 in Everett was shut down Wednesday as troopers collected evidence related to a shooting.

The southbound lanes were closed between Marine View Drive and 41st Street around noon and reopened about an hour later. The closure created an approximate 3-mile backup.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. on southbound I-5, just north of the 41st Street off-ramp, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The right-rear tire of a Lexus SUV was hit with several rounds, according to State Patrol.

There were no injuries.

The suspect vehicle is an approximately 2010, red Chevrolet Camaro with a tinted rear license plate cover. The driver was described as a male with facial hair. There was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, according to state patrol.

State Patrol is asking for witnesses with information or video to call Detective Josh Lancaster at 360-757-2008 or email Joshua.Lancaster@wsp.wa.gov.
