The southbound lanes of I-405 through Bellevue reopened early, in plenty of time for the Monday morning commute.
Sound Transit closed the southbound lanes on Sunday to remove a temporary structure around the new light rail line in downtown Bellevue.
The southbound lanes of 405 reopened just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday between Northeast 10th Street and Main Street. They were previously scheduled to be closed through 5 a.m. Monday.
On Aug. 16-18, northbound I-405 between Northeast 10th Street and Main Street will be closed, along with several ramps.
Drivers will be rerouted off 405 to Bellevue surface streets during the closures.
Here are specific details on which ramps and sections of roadway will be closed when, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation:
Friday, Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. to Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:59 p.m.
- The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 8th Street
- The Northeast 4th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405
Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, Aug. 19 at 5 a.m.
- Northbound I-405 between Main Street and Northeast 10th Street
- The northbound I-405 HOV off-ramp and the southbound HOV on-ramp to and from Northeast 6th Street
- The Northeast 4th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405
During the closure, drivers should plan for lengthy delays, including additional congestion on alternate routes like SR 520, I-90, and Bellevue surface streets.
