AUBURN, Wash. — State Route 18 lanes were closed in Auburn for several hours on Saturday afternoon after a collision involving multiple motorcycles and vehicles, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
All eastbound lanes reopened on SR 18 just before 4:30 p.m., according to WSDOT. Drivers are asked to allow time for the miles-long backups to clear.
Traffic was being diverted to the Weyerhaeuser Way off-ramp in Federal Way, according to WSDOT.
Multiple motorcycles and three vehicles were involved in the collision, according to WSDOT. South King Fire said it treated three people at the scene, two of which were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. A third person was also transported to the hospital. WSDOT did not report how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.
WSDOT first posted about the incident on social media at 12:46 p.m. and the lane closures continued into the late afternoon.
