SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — State Route 18 has reopened in both directions after a semi-truck crash closed the roadway early Tuesday morning.
The semi rolled and the crash blocked all lanes of travel for a period of time, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson.
The crash took place at milepost 26, a spot on SR 18 where there is no barrier separating the cars traveling in opposite directions. At this time, traffic is also down to one lane in each direction while WSDOT makes improvements to the road.
The WSDOT has plans to make improvements to the road in that area to improve traffic flow. The agency is planning to add two lanes to that section of the road and a "diverging diamond interchange" - a traffic feature designed to reduce the potential for collisions by 50%.
The construction is slated for completion in 2025.
