SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — State Route 18 has reopened after being closed for hours overnight and into Monday morning.
The roadway initially closed due to icy road conditions and multiple spinouts.
The closure extended from Interstate 90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road Southeast.
SR-18 westbound closed at around 1 a.m. due to a disabled vehicle blocking all lanes. The eastbound lanes also closed at around 3 a.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The roadway reopened at around 6:50 a.m.
The Washington State Patrol reported "multiple collisions" in Mason County due to icy roadways. Drivers are asked to slow down or delay their travel for later in the day. Those who do have to head out are asked to drive carefully and leave plenty of stopping distance between themselves and other cars.
Rain and snow showers that caused issues in some areas have since tapered off.
WSDOT advised drivers to expect "winter driving conditions" for those headed over mountain passes.
Temperatures have also been unseasonably cold over the last week, and are expected to remain chillier than normal this week with some warming into next weekend.
