TACOMA, Wash. — A rollover crash involving two cars and a semi-truck is causing a "lengthy closure" on state Route 16 in Tacoma.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), the driver of a tanker carrying argon gas was involved in a crash with two other cars Monday just after 4:30 p.m. The driver of the truck was arrested for DUI.
Two people in the other vehicles involved were taken to nearby hospitals. Their conditions are unknown.
According to WSP, both ramps from SR 16 to Sprague are closed. The closure extends from the intersection of Sprague Avenue and 19th Street to SR 16.
WSP said drivers should expect a "lengthy closure" in the area.
Argon is a very common colorless, odorless, and nonreactive noble gas. It is frequently used in industrial applications such as welding and lighting. According to WSP, the gas poses no threat to the public.
