Heavy rains and flooding have barraged Western Washington this week, thanks to a series of storm fronts that have moved through the region.
But the heavy rain didn't just start this week. Washington has been wetter than usual for the past month and a half -- and the numbers prove it.
Four things we learned from rain measurements at Sea-Tac:
1. Since the beginning of October, there have only been nine days without rain
2. It has rained every single day of December
3. Average rain for November is 6.57 inches; rainfall for Nov. 2015 totalled 8.37 inches
4. December has already been really wet, notching 6.33 inches of rain as of Dec. 10, far surpassing the average for that time frame and even topping the monthly average. The average rainfall for Dec. 1-10 is 1.87 inches; the average for the month is 5.35 inches.
