KING 5 Meteorologist showed elementary students at King’s Elementary in Shoreline how to make a cloud inside a jar Thursday.
Dery started with just four objects: Water in a jar, a bag of ice, and matches. Dery first lit the match over the water to create smoke particles.
By putting a bag of ice on top of the jar, it demonstrated the water molecules getting colder and higher, which are conditions to make a cloud.
As the water molecules get higher, they attach to particles in the air, such as smoke, and condense to create foggy conditions.
