Warmest ever start for January in Seattle

Hello, Juneary. This is the warmest first half of January on the Seattle record books.

The new year kicked off with springlike conditions around Puget Sound. This is the warmest first half of January on record for Seattle.

According to the National Weather Service, the average high temperature at Sea-Tac was 51.8 degrees for the first 16 days of January 2019.

The weather records for Puget Sound date back to the 1890s.

The average daytime high for Sea-Tac on January 17 is normally 47 degrees, but this Thursday sat comfortably higher than that, even with rain on the way.

The KING 5 Weather team adds that Seattle has only received 1.95 inches of rain so far this month. On average, January in Puget Sound would have 3.03 inches of rain.

However, we'll add more to the rain bucket this weekend, so our "Juneuary" spell may be coming to and end.
