SKYKOMISH, Wash. — Crews restored power to residents in the Skykomish area Monday morning where several communities had been in the dark for roughly four days.
This is the second time in less than a month there was an extended power outage in the area due to snow and winter weather. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) said the power outage was due to a landslide and power poles that were knocked down due to ice and snow.
The Skykomish School District canceled classes on Monday due to the power outage.
Approximately 755 PSE customers were still without power around 10 a.m. Monday. By 11 a.m., power had been restored to all PSE customers in the Skykomish area, according to the PSE outage map.
On Saturday, PSE said power had been restored to roughly 55,000 customers who were impacted by the latest storm.
Several communities in western Washington woke up to a trace of snow Monday morning. Accumulation wasn't expected to exceed an inch for cities around Puget Sound, according to the National Weather Service.
