BELLEVUE, Wash. — Despite gusty winds throughout western Washington in the early hours of Friday morning, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is maintaining its expected timeline for getting all of its customers back online.
Though not nearly as bad as Tuesday night's wind storm that left over 600,000 people across western Washington without power, another system of strong winds hit the region overnight into Friday morning.
PSE shared an update at 6 a.m. Friday, saying that the utility company had brought around 120,000 customers back online in the previous 24 hours. However, over 140,000 are still without power as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The company maintains that its customers without power in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and Kitsap Counties are expected to get their power restored by 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. The small number of Pierce County outages for PSE have individual restoration estimates, the company says.
In King County, where PSE says the worst of the damage from Tuesday's bomb cyclone was, the company maintains that it "expects" most of the state's largest county to be back online by noon on Saturday, Nov. 23.
PSE says it also will be operating two "info resource hubs" on Friday, where customers can charge devices, use Wi-Fi, and get limited drinks and snacks along with information from company staff. One will be in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer in Maple Valley and the other will be in the parking lot of the Kent Fred Meyer. Both locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., per PSE.
A warming center will also be available at the Issaquah Senior Center on Northeast Creek Way.
PSE says its outage map will be updated throughout the day with the latest estimates on power restoration.
