SEATTLE — Rain and cooler temperatures have been commonplace in western Washington as fall weather makes its presence known. The good thing for trick-or-treaters, however, is that the weather on Halloween should have limited impact.
A disturbance is expected to track through the state Wednesday, Oct. 30, bringing steady rain during the middle of the day. That should taper to off-and-on showers through the night with little rain left behind heading into the day for Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Cooler air will settle in behind, holding high temperatures down near the 50-degree mark. By the evening when we hit peak trick-or-treating time, expect most locations to be dry.
However, another low in Oregon will begin to throw showers northward into our area and could bring some light showers to our southern locations across Lewis, Thurston, and Pierce counties. The good news is that those rain chances remain low until late Thursday night into early Friday.
Overall, trick-or-treaters should prepare for spotty showers on Halloween, but the main concern will be the chilly temperatures with 40s expected during the time when most people will be out filling their candy bags. For areas near and north of Everett, temperatures will drop into the lower 40s just after sunset. From Everett down to Tacoma, expect more mid-40s, with locations south of there in the upper 40s.
Rain continues to increase Friday and more showers are expected over the weekend.
