The south Washington coast saw gusts up to 60 mph for the beaches and gusts up to 45 mph in inland communities. The National Weather Service (NWS) wants drivers to use extra caution in these areas.

A Gale Warning is also in effect for much of the waters off the Olympic Peninsula and the northern Puget Sound, per the NWS. A Gale Warning indicates winds of 34-47 knots (39.1-54 mph) that will require experienced boat operators and vessels that are properly equipped for such conditions. The NWS recommends inexperienced mariners "seek safe harbor" until the windy conditions die down.

Ferry travel could also be impacted by the strong winds, so keep an eye on the Washington State Ferries website in case there are any schedule changes.

The heavy winds could lead to power outages in certain areas. Track outages in major areas at the below links.
