Several inches of snow reported in spots on Olympic Peninsula; a 'dusting' on surfaces near Olympia

SEATTLE — Several inches of snow were reported in spots on the Olympic Peninsula Friday morning. A "dusting" was reported on surfaces outside of Olympia, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). 

The Lake Cushman area had several inches of snow covering roadways at around 5 a.m. Friday morning. Surfaces around Hoodsport had a dusting of snow on some surfaces, but accumulations did not linger on the roads. 

Hoodsport Fire and Emergency Management Services reported that Highway 119 and US Highway 101 were wet with some slush over the roadway. 

A Winter Weather Advisory expired at noon.

Scattered rain and snow showers will linger into the weekend. 

Heavy mountain snow

A Winter Storm Warning that was extended for the Olympics and Cascades has also since expired.

The National Weather Service called for up to 18 inches of additional snow accumulation by Friday.
