Up to 15 inches of snow is expected in parts of the Cascades in the next few days.

SEATTLE — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of the Cascade mountains through Friday morning with as much as 15 inches of snow being forecast in some areas.

Cascade mountainous areas above 3,000 feet will be under the winter weather advisory until 10 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.

Paradise is expected to have over 12 inches of snow by 10 a.m. Thursday per the NWS. White Pass should get 5 inches of snow by 10 a.m., while Stevens Pass should see about 3 inches of snow by then.

Drivers are advised that travel could be difficult at times, and those on the roads are asked to slow down and use caution if navigating snowy terrain.

KING 5 meteorologist Rich Marriott says the Cascades will see a mix of light rain and snow Thursday with snow levels around 3,500-4,000 feet.

A cold front will push through late Thursday afternoon followed by snow showers with snow levels dropping to 2,000 feet Thursday night.

A Puget Sound Convergence Zone will form later in the day Thursday and may give Stevens Pass the heavier snow showers. Ski areas and mountain highway passes may accumulate 4-8 inches of new snow between 5 a.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday.
