MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- The suspect in the shooting death of a female taxi driver has been charged with murder and robbery.
LisaMarie Eason died after she was shot in the face on Monday night in Mount Vernon. Her son was too shaken to talk on camera Wednesday night, but wanted people to see his mom.
The 46-year-old woman was a relatively new cab driver.
Investigators say she picked up her passenger Monday night at Swinomish Casino in Anacortes.
Eason was shot and killed just before 10 p.m. in downtown Mount Vernon.
Witnesses heard the gunshot and found Eason dead in her taxi.
The suspect ran from the scene, then carjacked a nearby teen driver. Detectives were able to track the man by tracing two cell phones still in the vehicle.
By early Tuesday morning, the phones were at a gas station in Lakewood, 100 miles away.
Lakewood police found the vehicle and arrested the suspect, who told officers he would need a lawyer because he was in a lot of trouble.
The victim's son said the suspect, Solomona Luteru, had no connection to Eason and called it a senseless act of violence.
