CLYDE HILL, Wash. — It started as a dream years ago. Now, Lochwood-Lozier Custom Homes is handing over the keys to what has become 425 Magazine's custom-built home of the year.
"This thing is a ground up, customer influenced, decision making every step of the way, in terms of their lifestyle, what they want, and what they need," said Todd Lozier, President of Lochwood-Lozier Custom Homes.
"It's four bedrooms, four baths," said Lozeir. “It's definitely a mix between modern and traditional."
Those two styles are on display the moment you walk in.
"Out here in the great room, we have about 21-foot-high ceilings, we have an 85-inch TV. Behind it, there's this walnut striping that goes all the way to the ceiling,” said Lozier. "We created this dining room table to custom fit that space."
The kitchen in the home is both sleek and stylish.
"We're so proud of the kitchen it's such a fantastic area. The kitchen sink is extra special," said Lozier. "It's like a prep station. It's about four and a half feet wide. Gaggenau suite of appliances is pretty amazing."
After the owners cook, they can take a seat in their one-of-a-kind breakfast nook.
"The table itself was custom-built by us. We have an amazing craftsman out of Manson, Washington who built the bench, built the chairs," Lozier said.
"One of the most special features of this house is really this corner door unit," described Lozier. Basically, there are two huge doors that open up, completely pocket and disappear with no structural support in the middle. People talk about year-round outdoor living in the Northwest. This is truly that."
To get to the bedrooms, you can walk up the floating staircase, or ride up in the built-in elevator.
"Pretty special primary. There's a nice view of Seattle and we did some really special products inside the bathroom. For instance, It has the licensed Frank Lloyd Wright series of faucets. We have the Kohler Veil smart toilet. The shower has a very special rain shower."
The home also has some secrets built in too.
"There's a couple of bookcases in this house to where there's a book, and you go and grab that book, you pull the book out and the bookcase opens,” Lozier said.
But the show-stopper of this house is the garage.
"It's a pretty big garage. We had to dig out and export about 2,000 yards of dirt to put that in," said Lozier. "You have your TV in your lounge area. You also have a scissor lift, that will lift a car up six feet and you have lights underneath. It's such an awesome space."
Though Lochwood-Lozier has built many custom homes over the years, Todd Lozier and his crew never tire of turning dreams into reality.
"It's super rewarding and I feel very blessed to be in this industry," Lozier said.
