Cin Cin! Lioness brings a taste of Italy to Seattle's Phinney Ridge

The restaurant and wine bar is the latest offering from acclaimed chef Renee Erickson. #k5evening

SEATTLE — Picture this – you're enjoying a night out with friends sipping on a glass of Schiava wine from northeast Italy and eating house-made pasta in a cozy neighborhood restaurant. You might think this scenario can only play out while on a Mediterranean vacation, but you can also experience here in the Northwest.

Lioness is the latest offering from renowned restauranteur Renee Erickson. She opened it in late 2023 in Seattle's Phinney Ridge neighborhood. It's tucked away in a mixed-used building alongside other restaurants, taprooms and wine stores.

The restaurant was inspired by Erickson's travels to Italy and her love for cozy neighborhood hangouts. The tiny but lively space is thoughtfully decorated, inviting guests to have a leisurely dinner with friends. You can also sit on the outdoor patio or grab a drink at the standing only bar.

Lioness is first and foremost a wine bar with dozens of bottles to choose from. The cocktail list features refreshing spritzes and a couple of different takes on a negroni. If you like martinis, don't miss the Lioness Martini. It's served with a lemon peel, olive and anchovy on the side so you can pick your own garnish. The rest is yours to snack on.

The food menu features Italian-inspired cuisine and is meant to be shared. Highlights include the smoked black cod mousse which is topped with salmon roe and the handmade cavatelli pasta. The menu does change often to take advantage of seasonal ingredients.

Lioness is open daily for dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. It's located at 7009 Greenwood Ave N. in Seattle's Phinney Ridge neighborhood.
