SEATTLE — One of the country's best new restaurants is in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood, according to a popular American magazine.
Atoma was among the 35 new restaurants highlighted in Esquire's "Best New Restaurants in America 2024" that was published Tuesday. While the vast majority of the listed restaurants were in California or New York, Atoma was the lone Pacific Northwest spot mentioned.
"Fermented radish cakes with geoduck and clam-belly aioli. Crumpets with koji butter. Dungeness crab with crab phat sabayon. Atoma’s in the Pacific Northwest, so you know the menu will change with the seasons, but one mainstay is a crispy, savory, flower-shaped cookie that’s pumped with a soft cheese and sweet jam made from Washington’s finest Walla Walla onions," reads part of Esquire's blurb about the Seattle restaurant.
Chef Johnny Courtney, who formerly worked at fellow Seattle fine dining establishment Canlis, also drew some praise from Esquire writer Omar Mamoon.
The restaurant opened in November 2023 on North 45th Street.
Atoma isn't the first Seattle restaurant to receive national recognition, as familyfriend was named as one of The New York Times' 50 best restaurants of 2024 back in September.
Open Tuesday-Saturday, reservations for Atoma can be made through this link from Tock.
