PUYALLUP, Wash — At Farm 12 the weekend brunch always draws a crowd of people who come to make memories and to make a difference in the lives of women and babies in the community.
100% of the profits support the non-profit Step By Step program, founded in 1997 by Krista Linden.
We surprised her with a framed certificate announcing Farm 12's win for Best Brunch.
"Our mission is to help women who are pursuing motherhood to have a healthy pregnancy and a good first year of their babies life," said Linden, who thought we had visited to do a story about Fika (pronounced "Feeka"), a neighboring coffee shop opened in 2022.
Here, behind the counter, we met Crystal Cox. Step By Step provided her with a nurse, dietician and counselor to help her through her pregnancy with Ziva. Now she's learning job skills
"I don't think I could have gotten the care and love I received through this program anywhere else," Cox said. "It's brought a whole new meaning to my life as a mother and as an employee, honestly."
So, how good is the brunch here? Good enough to have lines of people waiting patiently outside to get fed.
"It feels like grandma's food," Linden said. "There's a lot of healthy options when you come to brunch here so it is delicious. And everything you'd want in a brunch."
At Farm12 you get served a full plate of great food while you're helping serve a greater purpose. Now that's what we call a win-win.
