LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A father and son appeared in court Friday in connection to a fatal shooting in Lakewood nearly one month ago.
According to the Lakewood Police Department, 41-year-old Julio Lucas and his son, 23-year-old Matthew Lucas, were arrested in Arlington early Thursday morning.
The two are accused in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of 33rd Avenue South and 82nd Street South near the Monta Vista neighborhood Aug. 25. Initial reports stated two vehicles pulled up next to each and occupants in both cars allegedly fired at each other.
One man in his 30s was killed and two other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to LPD, officials found "numerous items of evidentiary value tying them to the scene" when the suspects were arrested. The two are charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and drive-by shooting.
Witnesses said there were a lot of people in the area at the time, including children. One witness told KING 5 he estimated nearly 100 gunshots were fired in less than a minute.
Officials say the investigation is still ongoing as there could be other people involved.
According to LPD, multiple agencies worked on the investigation, including the FBI's South Sound Task Force and SWAT. The Arlington Police Department, Everett Police Department, Woodinville Police Department and Snohomish County Sheriff's Department were also credited with aiding in the investigation.
