FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A male suspected of stabbing three people inside a BMW while the vehicle was traveling on Interstate 5 near Federal Way will be booked into King County Jail as detectives continue investigating the June 26 incident.
The male, who has not been officially charged, remains in the hospital after he was shot multiple times. He will be booked on investigation of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.
Around 2:40 p.m. on June 26, Washington State Patrol received 911 calls reporting a domestic violence incident on northbound I-5 near the SeaTac Rest Area.
Additional 911 callers reported there appeared to be injured people in and around the BMW that had stopped partially in the ditch on the right side of the interstate. There were also reports of a shooting.
When troopers arrived, they found a male and female who had moved away from the vehicle. Both had stab wounds.
Troopers found another male - the suspect - on the ground next to the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
The driver was still in the vehicle with a stab wound to his neck. He died at the scene. He was later identified as 19-year-old Ryan Lemay.
The three surviving people were taken to nearby hospitals.
Detectives with Washington State Patrol determined one of the males in the backseat of the vehicle stabbed the driver and the two other passengers.
The details of what led up to the incident remain under investigation and detectives are trying to determine who fired the gun.
