Federal Way police investigating shooting with child victim for second day in a row

Police said the suspect fled in a blue Hyundai Elantra.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — For the second day in a row, Federal Way police responded to a shooting that involved a young victim.

Police were on scene at an apartment complex Friday morning after a teen girl was shot inside of a unit. The teen has non-life-threatening injuries, police said, after being struck in the leg. The teen was transported to the hospital for treatment.

This comes just a day after a 2-year-old child was struck and killed during a shootout in the parking lot of an IHOP location off Southwest Campus Drive.

Police said Friday's shooting, like the fatal one Thursday, was not random. Federal Way police said the apartment where the teen was shot was targeted by the suspect.

The suspect is said to have fled the scene in a blue Hyundai Elantra.

A man was also shot in Federal Way on Thursday near the 33500 block of Pacific Highway South. He was shot in the arm and was transported to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
