Teen suspects in North Bend bank robbery charged

The two 15-year-olds both face first-degree robbery for the alleged crime on Jan. 26 at the Sno Falls Credit Union.

NORTH BEND, Wash. — The two 15-year-old males believed to be involved in a robbery of the Sno Falls Credit Union at the North Bend Premium outlets on Jan. 26 were charged Wednesday.

Both face charges of first-degree robbery and attempting to elude police. One faces an additional charge of felony rendering criminal assistance in the first degree.

KING 5 is not naming the teens because they have not been charged as adults.

The robbery resulted in a police pursuit that ended in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 on Mercer Island.

Prior to the chase, one of the teens handed a Sno Falls Credit Union employee a note stating it was a robbery, that he wanted money and was not alone, and that he had guns and "was going to kill everyone in the office and himself before police arrived," probable cause documents state.

According to the employee, the teen came in with three brown paper bags, along with the note.

The employee sent her co-worker a Teams message and then heard the doors to the credit union lock - putting the business into lockdown.

The employee eventually pulled out 10, $1 bills, placed the money in one of the bags and gave it back to the teen. After that, the teen left.

Police responded to the area around 3 p.m. A responding officer saw one of the teens running away from the credit union and get into a vehicle that was waiting - later discovered to be a Kia that was reported stolen. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled onto westbound I-90.

The pursuit went to Bellevue, where the driver exited the interstate at Exit 11. The vehicle struck three other vehicles before re-entering westbound I-90.

King County Sheriff deputies, who joined the pursuit, were able to PIT the vehicle, disabling it near Exit 8 on Mercer Island.

An officer who pursued the teens received an image from the credit union and confirmed the passenger in the stolen vehicle was wearing the same clothing as the person captured in the video.

A brown paper bag with a stack of $1 bills was found in the vehicle.
