EDMONDS, Wash. — The search continues for a suspect who robbed an Edmonds letter carrier in January, with the United States Postal Service (USPS) now offering a six-figure reward for information leading to an arrest.
Up to $150,000 is available for information on the armed robbery, which occurred on Jan. 16. The suspect stole mailbox keys impacting the ZIP codes of 98020 and 98206, according to the Edmonds Police Department.
The robbery was on 179th Street Southwest in the Perrinville neighborhood of Edmonds, police said.
While police initially released a basic description of the suspect, the department wants the community to focus on the description of the car: a black Nissan style sedan.
"If somebody sees that type of vehicle around locked mailbox areas or near one of the big blue bins and they're fiddling with it, that would be a good reason to call 911," Commander Josh McClure told KING 5 in January.
Edmonds police consider the robber to be armed and dangerous. If you believe you've seen him, you're urged to call 911 and not confront him.
"The priority for us right now is there is an armed robber. A postal worker was doing a job and had a gun stuck in his face. There's a public safety aspect here," McClure said. "That's the most important thing for us. We're hoping we can partner with the community again to have them give us a break and get a lead on this."
