LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Meadowdale Elementary School staff and students will be able to return to the building on Tuesday, months after it was damaged during a cold snap.
Over the weekend of Jan. 13-14, pipes burst amid freezing temperatures, causing "extensive damage" to the building. Because of this, students had to pack up and move to Woodway Elementary, a vacant school about 8 miles away.
The Edmonds School District posted the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday. It said staff and movers worked hard over the school's spring break to finish the repair work.
Teachers will be able to set up their classrooms on Monday before the students arrive on Tuesday.
Following the damage, students moved to remote learning before moving to Woodway on Jan. 30.
Back in January, Assistant Superintendent Greg Schwab told KING 5 that the pipes that burst were in a second-grade classroom and flooded 14 classrooms in total.
